13-year-old girl poisons classmate with bug repellent because she was jealous of her higher grades

A teenage girl is in critical condition after poisoning her classmate and attempting to commit suicide, according to police in India.

New Delhi police said that they have charged the 13-year-old girl, who was not identified, with causing hurt by means of poison after mixing bug repellent into the water of her classmate.

If convicted, the suspect faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine.

According to the police investigation, the suspect became jealous of her classmate who got higher grades.

On Monday, the suspect brought bug repellent to school, where she poured some into the victim’s water bottle.

When the victim drank from the water bottle, she immediately noticed that it was tampered with.

The victim began to suffer abdominal pain and vomiting.

She was taken to a hospital, where she is said to be in stable condition.

The victim told police that she suspected her classmate who was jealous of her high grades.

When the suspect learned that she was being investigated, she drank bug repellent.

The suspect remains in the hospital in critical condition.
