An avid hunter suffered serious injuries after shooting a moose in the woods, according to doctors in Canada.

38-year-old Rodney Buffet of Newfoundland said that on Saturday, he and his fiancee went hunting in the woods.

Buffet, who had been hunting ever since he was able to hold a gun, spotted a moose and shot it twice.

After a few seconds, the moose rolled over with its feet up in the air.

Buffet was sure that the moose was dead.

He approached the moose while his fiancee watched from a distance.

When Buffet grabbed the moose’s legs, the animal stood up.

The moose then began attacking Buffet.

The moose used its antlers to shove Buffet to the ground.

The animal then stomped its legs on Buffet, causing lacerations to his head and body.

Buffet’s fiance watched in horror from a distance.

Buffet eventually overpowered the animal and it ran away.

Paramedics who arrived at the scene were forced to walk 2 miles in the woods to reach Buffet.

He was then airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he received stitches for his deep cuts.

Luckily, Buffet did not suffer any lasting injuries.

Buffet said that he will go back haunting in about a week.
