The Baltimore Police Department said that on Friday, at approximately 2:15 p.m., police were dispatched to the Johns Hopkins Hospital‘s Bloomberg building located in the 1800 block of Orleans Street, for a reported suicide.

Hospital personnel told police that 33-year-old Christopher Yancey Senior and 30-year-old Anita Nicole Jones had been arguing while waiting for a procedure to be completed on their 14-year-old son.

Jones emerged from the room and informed hospital staff members that Senior cut himself.

Hospital staff members went into the room and discovered Senior suffering from lacerations to the upper body.

Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Senior succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Jones left the hospital before police arrived.

Homicide detectives were summoned to the hospital and launched an investigation.

Detectives learned that Jones and the victim were inside the room alone and no weapons were found at the scene.

Also, the victim’s injuries were not consistent with an apparent suicide.

On Saturday, Jones was apprehended and transported to Central Booking Intake Facility, where she was formally charged with first-degree murder.
