A police sergeant in Florida, found himself on the wrong side of the law when he assaulted his own son.

The Volusia County sheriff’s deputy was arrested on Saturday evening after a domestic incident involving his 16-year-old son.

50-year-old Sgt. Robert Rahn was charged with one count of domestic battery by strangulation and one count of child abuse without great harm after the incident at his home in the DeLand area.

Police were called to the home at around 6:00 p.m. after an altercation took place between Rahn and his son.

The teenager told officers that the incident began with an argument, which escalated when his father pushed him down onto a couch, punched him in the face and put him in a headlock.

The son said his father put his hand over his mouth and nose, and he lost consciousness.

Rahn was transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail and has been placed on paid administrative leave as a result of his arrest.
