A man of the United Kingdom, died in a freak accident while on vacation with his wife.

58-year-old Roger Stotesbury and his wife Hilary, 59, were on a year-long around the world tour when the tragic accident occurred.

The couple was spending time in India, and were supposed to return home to Buckingham next month.

The father of two children was standing close to the edge of the roof on the Laxmi Narayan Temple in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, when he suddenly fell.

Witnesses said that Stotesbury, was taking a selfie at around 4:30 p.m. when he slipped and fell 30 feet onto a stone floor below.

Hilary rushed to her husband’s aid and thought that he suffered a broken leg. However, she soon discovered that he broke his back.

When Stotesbury arrived at Raja Ram Hospital, his condition deteriorated and he died.

Hilary’s cousin Gina Rozner said that although the family does not have many details about the accident, they know that Stotesbury was not taking a selfie when he fell.

She claims that he took photos, he then put his iPad down on the ledge and later when he went to retrieve it, he slipped and fell over the ledge.

Stotesbury, a documentary filmmaker, had a blog called “Our Middle Aged Gap Year,” where he shared photos and wrote about his travels through Europe, America, and then Asia, where he died.

After his death, Hilary wrote a tribute on the blog. She wrote in part: “This was the best year of our life together and he died a happy man doing the thing he most loved, photography.

I have been so lucky and privileged to have been married to him for 23 years.”
