3-year-old Sadie Andrews, her parents, and siblings went to the Bruster’s Real Ice Cream, which is located on East University Drive in Auburn, on Saturday afternoon.

The family members were enjoying ice cream when Andrews suddenly disappeared.

The girl’s father immediately called the police to report his missing daughter and went looking for her.

When he did not find her, the father reviewed the ice cream store’s surveillance video, which showed Andrews falling into the grease pit.

According to the police investigation, Andrews was eating ice cream and playing with her siblings when she stepped on the lid of the grease pit.

The lid flipped over and Andrews fell inside.

Andrews was in the 6-foot-deep grease pit for about 7 minutes before she was pulled out.

Paramedics tried to revive the girl, but her efforts were not successful.

She was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center, where she was declared dead.

The coroner ruled her death an accident.
