Florence police have arrested 33-year-old Alfonso Ramon Jarmon after being accused of killing 77-year-old Charles Hugh Perkins.

Jarmon has been charged with murder.

Jarmon was represented by Attorney Jean Darby, 64.

On Thursday, while Darby was delivering the closing arguments to the jury, she began to feel ill.

She told the jury that the case was very tiring.

Darby tried to hold onto a table but she collapsed and fell to the ground.

Darby was rushed to the Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, where she was declared dead.

Judge Gil Self appointed 2 other attorneys.

On Friday, the jury found Jarmon guilty of murder.

He faces up to life in prison.
