(Scroll down for video) An elderly woman who suffered all her life from unexplained nosebleeds discovered a tooth growing inside her nasal cavity, according to doctors in China.

Xia, 57, suffered from nasal congestion despite blowing her nose often.

Xia thought she suffered from a bad cold and went to the doctor.

The doctor felt a hard object up her nose and send her to the hospital.

Xia checked herself into the Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital in Changsha, where ear, nose and throat specialist Zhou Jianpo took scans of her nose.

At first, Jianpo thought that a foreign object such as a stone got stuck in the woman’s nose, but he then realized it was an extra tooth with a root.

Jianpo had to remove several layers of membrane to get the tooth out.

Since the surgery, Xia’s symptoms disappeared.
