A father became extremely distraught after his daughter got engaged to her boyfriend without the blessing of her parents, according to police in Turkey.

54-year-old Ayhan Uzun of Kayseri committed suicide as his friends and family members watched him on Facebook Live.

Some viewers urged the distraught father to reconsider his decision to take his own life, but he ignored their pleas.

Uzun complained that his daughter got engaged to her boyfriend without his blessing.

Uzun had no idea that his daughter was engaged until his wife called him and let him know that their child was getting married.

When Uzun learned that his father-in-law took his place and blessed the upcoming marriage, he became really mad and suicidal.

Uzun went on Facebook Live and shared his story with his family and friends.

He then notified everyone that he will soon kill himself with a gun.

Nobody was home at the time of the incident.

Uzun’s last request was that his family should not attend his funeral.

Uzun then picked up a gun, held it to his head, and pulled the trigger.

Viewers called the police, but by the time help arrived, Uzun was already dead.

A spokesperson for Facebook said that the company is deeply saddened by the suicide.

The company has removed the video of the suicide as it violated Facebook’s terms and conditions against broadcasting self-harm.
