Brisbane police said that they have arrested the 64-year-old woman, who was not identified, after being accused of trying her daughter’s 4-month-old son.

The grandmother has been charged with one count of attempted murder.

According to the police investigation, the mother and son live in Sidney.

On Monday, the mother and son came to Brisbane to visit the grandmother.

On Tuesday, at around 6:30 a.m., the mother awoke to sounds of her baby crying.

The mother went into her son’s room and saw the grandmother slashing the baby in the face with a meat cleaver.

The mother called for help, and the baby was rushed to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

The baby is said to be in critical but stable condition.

The boy suffered stab wounds to his forehead, cheek, and neck.

The grandmother had been a teacher her entire life.

Recently, her mental health began declining, but she never showed signs of violence.
