(Scroll down for video) Residents in Tempe, Arizona, were shocked to have received child porn in their mailboxes this week.

Tempe police warned residents not to open the envelopes containing the child porn as it is considered a crime.

As many as 9 homes received envelopes, which contained 8 images of child porn.

Some residents opened the envelopes as they did not know that they contained the vile images.

The child porn was distributed in the Ninth Street and Farmer area near the Arizona State University.

There was no return address on the envelopes.

Some people made copies of the images to warn other residents, but police said that they inadvertently committed a serious crime of child porn distribution.

Police urged residents receiving suspicious envelopes to not open them and call the police immediately.

So far, no arrests have been made and police called in the FBI to investigate the case.
