Shoplifting suspect grabs police officer’s gun and fires shots in shopping mall

A man who was wanted for shoplifting is now facing many more charges after stealing the gun of a police officer.

Police in Japan, were called to a mall after 44-year-old Kenji Nomura, was accused of shoplifting.

Two police officers took the suspect into a room, where they and two mall security guards were present as Nomura was being interrogated over the shoplifting incident.

The incident occurred around 3:00 p.m., at an Aeon shopping mall in Fukuoka.

When the officers tried to handcuff Nomura in order to take him to the police station, he resisted and grabbed one of the officer’s weapons, police said.

He fired two shots in the crowded mall. Thankfully, no one was injured. Nomura was arrested, and in addition to the shoplifting charge, he is now facing charges for the shooting.
