(Scroll down for video) A fifth grade teacher was arrested after she sexually assaulted her student because she wanted to make him happy.

The 11-year-old boy of Wisconsin, told police that his teacher, 24-year-old Katherine R. Gonzalez, took him to her home, where he kissed her on the lips.

The boy said that the Atlas Preparatory Academy teacher then touched his private parts and she made him touch her inappropriately.

Detectives searched the boy’s phone, and found many sexually explicit messages on Snapchat from the teacher to her student.
She also warned the boy not to tell anyone about their relationship because she may lose her job.

In one text message, Gonzalez of Milwaukee, wrote “I’m in love with a kid, and I hate that I can’t tell anyone,” according to police.

The teacher did not see her actions as sexual abuse. She reportedly said that the boy was chronically depressed and she was rewarding him for doing well.

Gonzalez had a boyfriend at the time of the alleged abuse. However, she said that he was getting ready to propose to her, but she was not ready to take it to the next step.

Gonzalez is facing up to 60 years in prison after she was charged with felony first-degree child sexual assault and having sexual contact with child, among other charges. Her bond is $15,000 cash.

Update: Gonzalez was sentenced to five years in prison as well as seven years of post release supervision after pleading guilty to second-degree sexual assault of a child.
