Truck driver ran over 8 people before jumping into New York fire truck and trying to drive away

(Scroll down for video) Several people were seriously injured when a truck rammed 7 vehicles in New York City.

The New York Police Department said that they have arrested 36-year-old Devon Brandon of Brooklyn after being accused of driving drunk.

Brandon has been charged with reckless endangerment, assault, drug-impaired driving, drug possession and refusing to take a breath test.

According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Sunday, at around 2:00 p.m., on 10th Avenue near 44th Street.

Brandon was driving an Enterprise truck under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

He then slammed into 7 vehicles.

Brandon was injured.

8 other people suffered injuries.

Brandon then ran into a nearby fire truck while a firefighter was sitting in the passenger seat.

Brandon attempted to drive away from the scene but around 10 firefighters pulled him out of the fire truck.

Three victims were taken to the Mount Sinai West hospital while six others including the suspect were treated at the Bellevue hospital.

Doctors expect all victims to survive.
