Truck overturns killing 3,000 chickens and 1 man

Police launched an investigation after thousands of chickens were killed following a single vehicle accident, according to police in Malaysia.

Jasin district police said that the incident unfolded on Friday, at around 4:00 a.m., when the truck carrying around 3,500 chickens suddenly skidded off the road and overturned.

As a result, around 3,000 chickens were crushed to death.

A 33-year-old worker who was on the truck at the time died at the scene.

Two 34-year-old employees suffered serious injuries and were taken to the Melaka Hospital, where they are said to be in critical condition.

According to the police investigation, the truck was carrying the chickens from a farm in Bahau to a slaughterhouse in Serkam.

The 34-year-old truck driver is being investigated for causing death by dangerous driving.

Police urged witnesses to come forward to assist them in their investigation.
