Woman in 9th month of pregnancy beaten to death for touching neighbor’s garbage can

A fight over a garbage can left a mother and her unborn baby dead.

34-year-old Savitri Devi of Uttar Pradesh, India, was allegedly beaten with sticks and kicked in the stomach in front of her 9-year-old daughter.

According to the police report, Devi claimed she touched a garbage bin by accident.

Rohit Kumar and his mother, Anju, became angry, saying that she contaminating their garbage bin.

The mother and son beat the victim with sticks and repeatedly kicked her in the stomach, causing her to miscarry the baby.

According to Devi’s husband Dilip, after the miscarriage, his wife was discharged from the hospital and they went to file a police report, but police refused to arrest the couple.

The next day, Devi collapsed and was taken to the hospital, where she died.

Police decided to charge the mother and son with voluntarily causing hurt and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace.

However, after her death, when a post-mortem revealed that Devi died as a result of a head injury, the charges were upgraded to death by negligence and causing the death of the unborn child by act amounting to culpable homicide.

Police are now looking for the suspects, who went into hiding.
