Woman rescued as car was sinking in river after driving off boat ramp following domestic violence incident

(Scroll down for video) Police in Australia, posted a video on Facebook, showing officers swimming in a river to rescue a woman from her car that was sinking.

Police were called at about 2:00 p.m. in relation to a domestic violence incident.

Further information was received that the woman involved in the domestic incident left the area and was driving a vehicle and she was possibly affected by drugs.

With the assistance of a police helicopter, the vehicle was located in Rabaul Road, Georges Hall.

As police arrived, the woman deliberately drove the car off a boat ramp and into the Georges River.

Officers who saw the car starting to sink, swam towards the car, smashed the driver’s window and managed to pull her out through the window.

Seconds after she was out of the vehicle, it sank.

The woman has been taken to the Bankstown Police Station, where she was treated by paramedics.

One police officer was being treated at the Bankstown Hospital for a cut to his wrist as a result of the rescue.
