13-year-old boy burns down apartment building after trying to kill bedbug with alcohol and fire

A young boy who tried to get rid of bedbugs burned down an apartment building while killing the insects with alcohol and fire, according to police in Ohio.

Cincinnati police said that they have launched an investigation into the fire the broke out at around 11:00 p.m., on Tuesday.

The boy told investigators that he spotted bedbugs in his room.

He grabbed alcohol and poured some of it on the bedbugs.

He then set the bedbugs on fire.

Unfortunately, the boy’s mattress caught on fire and quickly spread to the rest of the units of the Hawaiian Terrace apartments.

Six apartments were damaged.

The total cost of the fire was said to be $300,000.

No injuries were reported.

The Red Cross announced that it is working to find accommodations for 3 adults and 5 children who were displaced by the fire.

Police said that no charges will be filed as the boy accidentally started the blaze.
