A teenager set fire to the home of his foster family because he wanted to go to prison and be close to his biological father, according to police in Indiana.
Indianapolis police said that they have arrested 16-year-old Jordan Marin-Doan after being accused of causing the death of his foster dad by setting fire to his foster family’s home.
Marin-Doan has been charged with arson, auto theft, and murder.
Marin-Doan is facing life in prison after being charged as an adult.
According to the police investigation, Marin-Doan’s biological father was arrested and jailed several years ago.
The boy has been placed in the care of 45-year-old Jason Doan and his husband Alan Marin.
The married couple had adopted additional children, an 11-month-old and a 10-year-old.
Marin-Doan was sent for therapy as he missed his father.
Recently, Marin-Doan threatened to kill his entire foster family because he wanted to join his biological father in prison.
On Thursday, he set fire to his foster family’s home.
The boy doused a staircase with gasoline and used a cigarette lighter to set it on fire.
He then fled the scene with his parents’ Jeep.
Everyone made it out safely from the house except for Doan.
Doan died as a result of inhalation of products of combustion.
