Investigators are trying to figure out why a boy dragged his sister into the woods and slashed her to death, according to police in North Carolina.
Weaverville police said that officers found 18-year-old Kayla Desiree Hensley slashed to death on the side of a road near a dumpster at a mobile home park on Brinwood Drive on Saturday night.
The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a homicide investigation was initiated after a call was made at 10:30 p.m. from the house located at 26 Brinwood Drive.
Deputies arrived at the residence and encountered the reporting party and a juvenile, a white male.
Deputies spoke to the juvenile, and then began a search for the victim to render aid.
Additional law enforcement personnel were requested and arrived at the complainant’s residence.
The victim was found shortly thereafter at the bottom of Brinwood Drive.
The woman was found with multiple slash wounds.
This incident was domestic in nature and there was never an ongoing threat to the surrounding community.
The juvenile suspect, Hensley’s sibling, has been charged with first-degree murder.
He is in the custody of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Juvenile Justice.
Hensley’s boyfriend, 20-year-old Charles Lyman, said that he is devastated as he lost his first and only love.
