A burglar in Florida was busted while trying to use a stolen $1.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said a restaurant manager arrived at work and found that someone had broken into the Siesta Key Oyster Bar on Ocean Boulevard.
There was damage to the door and the frame.
Several signed one dollar bills were taken from the wall.
According to the manager, customers signed the $1 bills and then put them on the wall and ceiling as decoration.
Police said that the suspect stole approximately $150 in one dollar bills from inside the restaurant.
Police reviewed surveillance videos and identified the suspect as 51-year-old Danny Limongelli, who had previous run-ins with the law.
The deputies contacted several stores in that area to ask them to pay attention to the $1 bills and be on the lookout for those that have signatures on them.
Police said they were contacted by Publix just after 4:00 p.m. and were notified that Limongelli was inside the store and trying to pay with a signed dollar bill.
Deputies found several dollar bills that were signed in Limongelli’s pockets.
Limongelli was charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure. He is being held in the Sarasota County Jail on $1,500 bond.
