An elderly man lost several fingers while feeding money to a circus tiger, according to police in China.
Jingziguan police said that the incident unfolded on Wednesday afternoon when the traveling circus visited the area, where the 65-year-old victim lives.
Family members of the grandfather who was identified as Bai said that the elderly man was drunk when he went to the circus.
Bai seemed uninterested in the monkeys and he went straight to the cage that was housing the tigers.
He took out some cash from his pockets and fed them to a tiger.
The tiger did not get excited about the free cash and instead bit off Bai’s fingers.
The tiger then continued to bite Bai’s hand and refused to let go.
Circus employees rushed over to the scene and hit the tiger with iron bars until the animal let go of Bai.
Bai began bleeding profusely and he passed out.
He was rushed to a hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition.
Bai lost two of his fingers as a result of the attack.
He claimed that there were no warning signs telling visitors not to feed the animals.
