A drug addict broke into an elderly woman’s home and attacked her with a vacuum cleaner, according to police in the United Kingdom.
South Wales police said they have arrested 28-year-old Cara Thorne after being accused of assaulting three people including a police officer.
Thorne pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault at the Cardiff Crown Court.
Judge Jeremy Jenkins sentenced Thorne to 14 months in prison.
She was also banned from the area of Llys Tylcha Fawr, where her three victims live.
According to the police investigation, in the early hours of the morning, Thorne knocked on the door of a home.
67-year-old Jennifer Keogh woke up from the noise and went to answer the door.
Thorne pushed herself inside the home and began attacking Keogh.
Thorne picked up a vacuum cleaner and used it to beat the homeowner.
Thorne then turned on the vacuum cleaner and ran it across the elderly woman’s body.
Thorne told Keogh that she wanted to suck the fat out of her body.
Keogh managed to run out of the house.
She ran to a neighbor’s house, where she called the police.
Thorne fled the scene before police arrived.
Keogh suffered scratches on her face and a cut on her right eye.
A few minutes later, Thorne broke into the home of Christopher Chenery.
She broke items around the house.
When Chenery confronted her, Thorne grabbed a knife from the kitchen and threatened to stab him.
Chenery then threw a cigarette outside through the front door.
When Thorne went after the cigarette, Chenery locked the door and called the police.
Police quickly arrived at the scene and took Thorne into custody.
Thorne spat at an officer who was standing next to her holding cell.
She then told the officer that she has hepatitis C and he would soon become sick.
Thorne later claimed that she smoked marijuana and does not remember what happened that night.
