A woman suffered life-changing injuries at the hands of her tenant.
Police in Minnesota arrested 45-year-old Samuel Omwunda Nyaboga on charges of attempted murder and assault after witnesses saw him beat his landlord.
The homeowner remains in critical condition, and if she survives, she may suffer permanent brain damage.
According to police, the woman recently bought a building at 8441 Kentucky Court North, in Brooklyn Park, and rented one apartment out to Nyaboga.
However, when he failed to pay rent, she began an eviction process.
A witness said that the owner knocked on Nyaboga’s door on Tuesday to ask for rent, and when he opened, he attacked her.
The woman was hit several times but managed to run out of the building.
Nyaboga chased her and then hit her over the head with the ax. He also threatened to kill a witness with the ax.
When the police arrived, they found the owner lying in a pool of blood. She was taken to a hospital, where it was revealed that she suffered a skull fracture, a subdural hematoma, and injuries to her scalp and face.
Nyaboga, who is originally from Kenya, was booked into Hennepin County Jail. He faces 27 years in prison.
