A sex offender who was jailed did not learn his lesson and continued to commit sex crimes behind bars, according to police in Scotland.

Edinburgh police said that they have charged 43-year-old Steven McGarry after being accused of raping and abusing prisoners at the Saughton jail and Glenochil prison.

Judge John Morris of the High Court in Edinburgh sentenced McGarry to 9 years in prison after being convicted of rape and 13 other sexual offenses.

According to the police investigation, McGarry was jailed for 11 years after being convicted of rape.

While serving his time at the Saughton jail and Glenochil prison, he abused and sexually assaulted other male prisoners.

The court heard how McGarry raped at least one prisoners and assaulted another sleeping man.

He also committed sex acts in front of inmates without their consent.

Prisoners told investigators that McGarry would regularly strip naked and perform sex acts on himself while others watched him.

In total, seven prisoners have come forward with complaints against McGarry.

In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Morris ordered McGarry to register on the sex offender list for life.
