A woman became angry when her tenant decided to move out of her home and into a new apartment down the street, according to police in Singapore.

Bedok police said that they have arrested the 46-year-old woman, who was not identified, after setting fire to her former tenant’s new apartment.

The woman was charged with mischief by fire.

If convicted, she faces up to 7 years in prison and a fine.

According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Wednesday, at around 6:30 a.m.

The Police were alerted to the scene of a suspicious fire at a unit on the Block 240 Tampines Street 21.

After reviewing security camera footage, officers from the Bedok Police Division established the identity of the woman and arrested her.

During questioning by police, the woman said that one of the residents in the affected unit used to be her tenant.

The tenant had moved out several weeks ago, causing the 46-year-old woman to be disgruntled.

The suspect did not like the fact that the tenant relocated to a different apartment on the same street so she decided to set the unit on fire.

The apartment suffered extensive damage.
