A man will spend a long time behind bars for flying across the country to meet a young girl for sex.
A California man who traveled several times to meet a girl from Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison.
29-year-old Stephen Chang of Los Angeles, California, was sentenced to 262 months in prison after he was found guilty of three counts of travel with intent to engage in criminal sexual conduct and two counts of coercion of sexual activity from a minor.
According to prosecutors, Chang started communicating with the 13-year-old girl in August 2014 and encouraged her to send him sexually explicit photos of herself.
He traveled from Los Angeles to Elizabethtown in December 2014, October 2015, and March 2016, to have sex with the underage girl.
A Facebook employee contacted The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in January 2016 to inform them of sexually explicit communication between Chang and the victim.
During their investigation, detectives discovered that Chang had engaged in sexual conduct with a second victim in Bakersfield, California.
Chang was arrested in March 2016 at the Harrisburg International Airport when he arrived to meet the girl again.
In addition to the 262-month prison sentence, Judge Yvette Kane ordered Chang to serve 15 years on probation after his release and to pay more than $14,000 in fines and restitution.
