(Scroll down for video) A community was scared that there may be a killer on the loose after a mother was found stabbed and shot in her home.

However, one week after the murder, police announced that their community was safe and that they have arrested the suspect, who lived with the victim.

Police said that forensic evidence showed that 20-year-old Jeffrey Scullin Jr. from Strongsville, Ohio, killed his fiance’s mother just 5 days before they were set to get married.

Scullin and his fiancee, who have a young daughter together, lived with her parents.

Police released the 911 call that was made by Scullin.

He claimed that he came home with his future father-in-law.

The door was locked, and when they went inside, they found Melinda Pleskovic, 49, who was a sixth-grade teacher at Strongsville Middle School, bleeding on the kitchen floor.

Pleskovic died of her injuries. A medical examiner said that the victim was shot and stabbed with an object.

Scullin was charged with the murder and is being held on a $1 million bond.

Melinda leaves behind her husband Bruce, her two daughters, her 18-year-son who has Down’s Syndrome, and her granddaughter.
