Math and Computer Science university student jailed for having sex with 12-year-old girlBy Emily Lewis 7:22 AM November 7, 2017
A young man in the United Kingdom, who had a promising future, lost everything after he was jailed for having sex with a young girl.
21-year-old David Nwosu was accused of grooming the girl online while he attended the Keele University in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.
The Stoke Crown Court heard the 12-year-old girl told Nwosu she was “14, going on 15-years-old” when they began chatting online.
According to prosecutors, Nwosu, a math and computer science undergraduate student told the girl he “loved her”
and he wanted to make a sex tape with her.
He sent the girl nude photos of himself and he told her that if she loved him, she would send him photos of herself.
The girl complied and she sent him photos of her breasts and private parts.
The teen met him several times and they had sex. Nwosu is accused of grooming another teen who informed him she was only 15 years old.
The teen said that Nwosu asked her for sexually explicit photos and she send them to him. She added that Nwosu wanted photos of her kissing her friend, but she refused.
The second victim said she also refused to meet Nwosu in person because she did not want to have sex with him.
Defense attorney Rebecca Wade said Nwosu is an intelligent man but immature.
“The offenses have brought shame on his family. He is an intelligent man who has made significant mistakes, which will have an impact on him and the victims,” Wade told the court.
Judge David Fletcher sentenced Nwosu to 5 years in prison.
He was also given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which prevents him from contacting children or teens.
A spokesperson for Keele University said that Nwosu was suspended immediately after they learned of his arrest.
Media outlets in Nigeria reported that Nwosu is from their country and that he was in the United Kingdom to attend the university.
