A man who was respected as a military medic and was committed to saving lives is now accused of taking the life of his own infant daughter.
The infant and her twin sister were born 9 months ago.
Police in Tennessee said that the allegations “brought out a lot of rage in people in the neighborhood.”
Clarksville Police said the father was charged with homicide and aggravated rape in connection with the death and sexual assault of his 9-month-old daughter.
Emergency workers were called to the home of 22-year-old Christopher Paul “Chris” Conway on Cindy Jo Court, at about 7:00 a.m., on a report that a child was unresponsive.
They tried to revive the infant while rushing her to Tennova Healthcare, where she was pronounced dead about 40 minutes later.
According to the police investigation, Conway sexually assaulted his biological daughter before wrapping a cord around her neck and strangling her.
Judge Ray Grimes ordered the father to be held without bail on a homicide charge. The judge warned Conway that he could face the death penalty if found guilty of the charges.
Conway’s Facebook page indicated that he was employed by the U.S. Army.
He worked as a combat medic in Grand Bay, Alabama.
He is a married father of twin girls.
Conway married his wife Emily about three years ago, and they welcomed their twin girls 9 months ago.
Photos on Conway’s social media page portrayed him as a proud husband and father to his twin daughters.
