A woman tried getting her former boyfriend arrested by claiming he raped her.
However, her plans backfired and she was arrested instead.
25-year-old Mariah Jordan Smith from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, has been arrested for filing a false report after police said she admitted to lying about being raped.
Smith called the police at 5:00 p.m., on Saturday, to report that she had been the victim of a home invasion and a sexual assault.
According to reports, Smith, who has a young daughter, told police that her ex-boyfriend walked into her home through an unlocked door, went to her bedroom, and raped her.
Smith claimed that after the sexual assault, her ex-boyfriend tied her legs to the bed, tied her hands, and left.
Tuscaloosa police said that during their investigation, detectives were able to determine that some of the statements Smith gave to them were not true.
Investigators contacted Smith’s ex-boyfriend and learned that he was out of the state at the time of the alleged assault. His name has not been made public.
Smith was arrested and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail. Her bond was set at $6,000.
