Mother trying to stop her daughter from being bullied arrested for sending recording device to schoolBy Mason White 7:50 AM November 24, 2017
A mother was upset when her daughter complained about being bullied in school.
The mother called and emailed the Ocean View Elementary school in Norfolk, Virginia, several times, but got no response.
In a desperate attempt to help and protect her daughter from being bullied, Sarah Sims placed a recording device in her
9-year-old daughter’s backpack.
Sims was hoping to get audio from the bullying that occurred inside the classroom so that she can take the proof to the school and have them do something to stop the bullying.
However, someone found the recorder in school and confiscated the device. Police were called because electronic devices are not allowed in elementary schools.
Sims was arrested and charged with felony use of a device to intercept oral communication and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The felony charge could carry five years in prison.
Sims’ daughter has since been moved to a different class.
