(Scroll down for video) A police officer and gunman suffered injuries during a takedown of a violent armed robber.

Police in Florida were called to a KFC located at 30010 South Dixie Highway in Miami-Dade after an armed robber arrived as workers left the store.

The armed man ordered the employees to go back into the KFC
and give him money from the safe.

The employees who did not know the code to the safe called a manager for the number to the combination lock.

The manager then called police at around 1:00 a.m.
to report that employees were being held at gunpoint

Police rushed to the scene and arrived while the armed robber was still inside. When the suspect, 24-year-old Johnclif Pierre, saw the officers, he began shooting in their direction.

Nobody was hurt during the shootout. However, a police K9 bit an officer and Pierre while he was being arrested.

Videos of the incident showed the officer being taken to a hospital by an ambulance.
