Unlicensed driver allows 11-year-old girl to drive her around to not get in trouble for driving without licenseBy Alexis Bell 8:13 AM November 29, 2017
A woman was found riding in the backseat of a car with an 11-year-old girl behind the wheel.
19-year-old Brandy Cross of Ohio was arrested and charged with child endangering, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, criminal damaging, criminal trespass, and permitting operation without a license.
Her bail was set at $1,500.
Police dashcam recorded the bizarre traffic stop. Police initiated the stop after seeing an SUV flashing its high beams as it was driving towards the officer.
Police said that the driver finally came to a “hard stop”
near the intersection of Brookside Road and Parkman Road in Warren.
Cross immediately came out from the backseat of the vehicle.
Officers were surprised to find the 11-year-old girl behind the wheel.
When they asked Cross why she was not driving, Cross replied that she does not have a license.
Police said that Cross admitted that she knew that girl is not old enough to drive, but that she herself did not have a driver’s license so she thought it was better to let the child drive.
The 11-year-old girl was given a fine and released to the custody of her mother.
Police contacted the owner of the car, who said that she allowed Cross to borrow her car. She did not know that Cross was unlicensed.
