Woman dies of heart attack after witnessing man pulling gun on Walmart customer during fight over untied shoelace

A man flew into a rage when a Walmart shopper told him that his shoelace was untied, according to police in Maine.

Augusta police said that they have arrested 31-year-old Robert Potter after being accused of firing a weapon at Walmart during a fight with 52-year-old Kevin J. Roberge.

Potter was charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault with a firearm, and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.

Potter was taken to the MaineGeneral Medical Center.

If convicted, Potter faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Monday, at around 8:15 p.m.

Potter was standing inside the Walmart when Roberge noticed that his shoelace was untied.

Roberge told Potter about the shoelace and suggested he tie it in order not to trip and fall.

Potter became angry and began following Roberge in the store.

At some point, Potter pulled out a gun and ordered Roberge to the ground.

Roberge quickly grabbed the gun and the two started wrestling.

Potter discharged the weapon, but luckily, nobody was injured.

A woman who witnessed the struggle ran out of the store and into the parking lot, where she suffered a heart attack.

The woman died at the scene.

An autopsy will determine whether the woman suffered a heart attack as a result of witnessing the struggle.

Roberge refused to press charges against Potter who served in the U.S. Army for many years and was mentally disabled.

However, police said that the incident was very serious and Potter was arrested at the scene.
