A drunk man who wanted to get home without having to spend any money decided to steal a garbage truck, according to police in Japan.

Tokyo police said that they have arrested 23-year-old Shunsuke Honma after being accused of stealing the garbage truck while the sanitation employees were busy putting trash into it.

Honma is facing charges of theft and drunk driving.

According to the police investigation, on Thursday, Honma stayed out all night and drank at several bars.

On Friday, at around 6:00 a.m., Honma decided to go home.

Honma had no money and he did not feel like taking a train during rush hour.

He tried to open several parked cars in order to steal one and drive home.

After failing to find an open car by 8:00 a.m., he asked a garbage truck driver to take him home.

When the driver refused, Honma went to another garbage truck, got into the driver’s seat, and sped away from the scene as sanitation employees were dumping trash bags into it.

Honma drove about 2 miles before abandoning the truck.
