Over the past few years, there has been an increase in the number of children who committed suicide after being bullied online or at school.
However, this time, the bullying came from a girl’s father who handed her a weapon and told her to kill herself.
Ulys Laffette Bell, 38, of Fort Mohave, Arizona, was so fed up with the disciplinary problems he was having with his 14-year-old daughter that he gave the girl a gun and told her to pull the trigger, police said.
Bell handed the 9mm pistol to her daughter on Sunday and told her to commit suicide, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
The teenager did not do so and instead, she reported the incident on Monday to school officials.
The school then called the police.
Police said that Bell admitted that he had disciplinary problems with his daughter and gave her a gun to shoot herself.
He told the detective that the gun was not loaded at the time of the incident.
The sheriff’s office spokesperson said officials could not confirm that the gun was unloaded at the time of the alleged incident.
Bell was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct with a weapon, child abuse, and child endangerment.
