A husband admitted to strangling his wife because she talked too much, according to police in Canada.
Calgary police said that they have arrested 31-year-old Joshua Burgess after being accused of killing 25-year-old Shannon Madill Burgess.
Joshua pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder.
Justice Pat Sullivan sentenced Joshua to life in prison.
Joshua will have to serve a minimum of 10 years in prison before being eligible for parole.
According to the police investigation, Joshua and Shannon were having marital problems and were dating other people.
One night, Joshua came home and found Shannon on the couch of their home located on Spiller Road S.E.
The two started kissing.
Shannon then told Joshua that she regretted ever marrying him.
An argument broke out and it quickly turned violent.
Joshua told Shannon to shut up and when she kept talking, he strangled her with his bare hands.
He then wrapped a belt around her neck to make sure she was dead.
Joshua put Shannon in a plastic bin and placed it on his porch, where it remained all winter.
Joshua told Shannon’s family that she disappeared.
Seven months later, Joshua buried Shannon in the backyard of their home.
When police showed up at his house, Joshua admitted to killing his wife.
He then slit his throat.
Joshua was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was stitched up and released.
He then told police that he strangled his wife because she talked too much.
