A doctor was arrested after he caused his girlfriend to have a miscarriage by spiking her tea with abortion pills.
Brook Fiske, 37, from Rochester, New York, said that she had been dating Sikander Imran, 32, on and off for 3 years.
Their relationship ended when Imran, who is originally from Pakistan, moved to Arlington, Virginia, for a job.
However, shortly after he moved, Fiske discovered that she was pregnant. Imran did not want to have a baby and asked Fiske to have an abortion, but she refused.
When she was 17 weeks pregnant, Fiske went to Virginia to visit Imran.
She wanted to discuss issues of how they were going to raise their baby boy after the birth.
Fiske said that Imran offered her a tea and when she finished it, she saw what appeared to be crushed pills. Hours later, she went into labor.
She went to a hospital, where she lost the baby.
Fiske said that tests showed the abortion pill Misoprostol in her system.
She added that a nurse at the Virginia Hospital Center, where she was treated, said that 200 milligrams of Misoprostol is used to induce labor. However, she was found to have 800 milligrams of Misoprostol in her system.
Fiske said that Imran admitted to her that he deliberately caused her to miscarry.
Imran was arrested and charged with cause of abortion and premeditated killing of a fetus of another. His trial was supposed to start this week, but prosecutors pushed it off as they added more charges.
