Two parents severely abused their teenage daughter over a period of several years because she stuttered and disrespected her father, according to police in Georgia.
The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office said that they have arrested Rimmon Lewis, 32, and Angela Strothers, 33, after forcing the 13-year-old girl to drink laundry detergent and eat cat food.
Lewis has been charged with cruelty to children, aggravated battery, and aggravated stalking.
Strothers was charged with cruelty to children and aggravated stalking.
The Georgia Department of Family and Child Services took custody of the girl.
According to the police investigation, the 13-year-old girl has been abused by her parents over a period of several years.
Prosecutors told the court that the girl was forced to stand on cans of food and write 1,000 sentences as a punishment for disrespecting her father.
She was also forced to squat against a door while being beaten with a wooden stick.
The parents hated the girl because she stuttered.
The girl was punched in the head and stomach and kicked her in the private parts.
She was thrown out of the house after being caught sleeping on a couch without permission.
On several occasions, the girl was locked in a laundry room for long periods of time.
She was not allowed to use the bathroom and soiled her clothes.
She was then sent to school with her urine soaked clothes.
The girl was not allowed to eat home cooked food.
She was fed laundry detergent and cat food before being allowed to eat leftovers from her siblings’ plates.
She was given freezing cold or scalding hot baths.
The police were notified after a teacher noticed many bruises on the girl.
