Shackled prisoner waiting to see judge manages to hurt another inmate who pleaded guilty to raping childrenBy William Martin 5:48 AM December 1, 2017
Inmates who were accused of sex offenses against children are sometimes placed in secure prisons so that they are safe from others who want to hurt them.
This week, police officers were forced to break up an assault on an inmate moments after he was sentenced to between 7 and a half to 15 years in prison for sexually abusing two girls.
Christopher Elwell pleaded guilty to showing sexually explicit videos to a 9-year-old before sexually assaulting her and a 4-year-old girl who came to visit the home where he was staying.
When Josiah Davies heard about the crimes committed by Elwell, he became furious.
Jail officers ordered Elwell to sit down next to Davies. Davies, who was in handcuffs, used the opportunity to assault the sex offender.
Davies jumped up and headbutted Elwell twice before he was tackled by officers.
Elwell had previously been convicted of crimes against a different child and was ordered to register as a sex offender.
