A prostitute caused enormous hardship to a police detective by falsely accusing him of raping her at a hotel, according to police in the United Kingdom.
Manchester police said that they have arrested 40-year-old Halina Khan after being accused of racial harassment and filing a false police report.
Khan pleaded guilty to 2 counts of racial harassment and one count of attempting to pervert the course of justice at the Leicester Crown Court.
Justice Cheema-Grubb sentenced Khan to 2 years and 3 months in prison.
According to the police investigation, the police detective, who was not identified, led a drug investigation against Khan’s husband.
Khan admitted that she worked as an escort.
One day, Khan called the police to the Regency Hotel on London Road to report that her partner client took her car without permission.
Police officers who arrived at the scene had to force themselves into Khan’s hotel room.
Once inside, Khan told them that she was working as an escort and her client took her car.
She also indicated that she hurt her client.
Police tried to arrest her for assault but she resisted.
Khan hurled racial abuse towards 2 officers and destroyed her cell phone.
She then told police that the detective raped her the previous night at the hotel.
Police went to the married detective’s home to question him about the rape allegation.
The detective denied the allegations, saying that he never met Khan.
The detective’s marriage suffered as a result of the false rape claim.
He became very depressed and was unable to work.
The detective told the judge that his world fell apart as a result of the false allegation.
Luckily, Khan eventually admitted to making up the rape story.
Khan told police that she used the detective’s name in the false rape claim because he led the drug investigation against her husband.
