A woman was arrested for burning items including bibles inside her rented a home to get revenge against her husband.
A woman in Oklahoma called the police to report that a fire alarm went off at her neighbor’s home and there was smoke coming out from the back door.
Firefighters who arrived at the home on the 6800 block of 50th Street in Bethany found a box that has been set on fire.
They were able to put out the fire before it spread.
According to police, the charred box contained bibles, religious books, and documents. There were two burned spots on the wood floor and other fire damage to the house.
The homeowner, Phillip Lighthill, said that his tenants, Paul Nowlin and his wife Skylar Prock, had paid their rent on time before he was arrested and jailed for drug possession.
Police searched for Prock who was later located in jail. She had been arrested on drug charges shortly after the fire was started. She now faces charges of arson.
“She told us that she was getting back at her husband because he had not paid the rent, and they were getting evicted after he was arrested on drug charges,” Bethany Police Lt. Angelo Orefice said.
