A family is shocked over the senseless death of a beloved mother at the hands of her own son.
Police in California said that the man shot his mother in the head after playing a video game.
Sgt. Greg Yotsuya with the Ceres Police Department said that 28-year-old Matthew Nicholson was playing a video game in his room before yelling out in anger over losing the game.
His mother Lydia went upstairs to check on her son and an argument broke out between them.
According to Yotsuya, the son was yelling about his headset being broken. He then grabbed a gun and started shooting.
Two bullets hit a wall, one hit a ceiling, and the fourth shot hit his mother in the head, killing her. Lydia’s husband eventually managed to wrestle the gun away.
Nicholson fled the scene. Officers located and arrested him without incident.
