3-year-old girl calls 911 while home alone with younger brother and 3 dogsBy Mason White 4:03 AM January 12, 2018
Police were sent to a home after a girl accidentally called 911 while trying to call her mother.
Police were dispatched to a trailer park in Oak Hill, Florida after the girl told dispatchers that her parents were not home.
Officers asked the manager for help in gaining access to the trailer. Once inside, they found 2 children, 3 dogs, and an unsecured shotgun along with ammunition within the children’s reach.
The 3-year-old girl and 1-year-old boy had soiled diapers. The toddler was sitting in a playpen.
One dog was running loose while two dogs were locked cages in the kitchen, according to police.
The mother, 26-year-old Yajaira Tirado, was located 2 hours after officers were called to the home.
The mother claimed that she was away from the home for only 8 minutes and that the children were sleeping when she left.
Tirado admitted to having coffee with a man in another home at the trailer park but claimed that she had sent a text message, asking a neighbor to watch the children.
After Tirado was unable to show the officers that text message, she was arrested on charges of child neglect.
The children were placed in the custody of a family member.
