Two men in the United Kingdom carried out a vicious attack against an elderly woman.
Essex police announced that one of the suspects was jailed in connection with the horrific attack.
The Basildon Crown Court heard that the two men broke into the home of the 94-year-old woman on Thames Haven Road in Corringham.
The men went to her bedroom, pinned the woman to the floor, and demanded her bank card and PIN at knifepoint.
The men pulled off three rings, including her wedding ring, from her fingers and removed a necklace from her neck.
The woman gave them the PIN and they left. She managed to call police following her ordeal, which lasted about 15 minutes.
Her bank card was later found to have been used and a three-figure sum of cash was withdrawn, police said.
Police tracked down one of the suspects the next day and attempted to pull him over, but he sped off.
The driver crashed while trying to flee from police. The 2 occupants of the car fled on foot. Officers managed to apprehend 26-year-old Lewis Onwuchekwa who was resisting arrest.
Onwuchekwa denied being involved in the armed robbery against the 94-year-old woman but he was found guilty after a trial.
He was convicted of robbery, assaulting a police constable with intent to resist arrest and dangerous driving. He was sentenced to 9-and-a-half years in prison.
He was also banned from driving for 6-and-a-half years.
