A cleaning crew was shocked to find a full-term dead newborn baby inside a drawer in the bathroom on a commercial airplane.

Police in Indonesia said they arrested 37-year-old Hani, who is believed to be the mother of the baby, after the discovery at the Jakarta airport.

Officials suspect that the Hani secretly gave birth during the flight from Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, to the Indonesian capital and hid her baby inside the drawer.

Police are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Police said that Hani became been ill during the flight, causing the Etihad Airline pilot to make an emergency landing in Bangkok, Thailand.

Hani was removed from the plane in Thailand but the dead newborn was not found until the flight reached its final destination.

Hani was arrested when she arrived home on a later flight.

The head of the Jakarta airport police, Ahmad Yusef, said that that the cleaning crew found the newborn baby wrapped in a plastic bag in a drawer of one of the plane’s bathrooms.

Hani from Cianjur, Java, worked as a migrant domestic helper in Abu Dhabi for four years.
