A judge ordered police to dig up the remains from a baby belonging to a 14-year-old rape victim in order to get justice.
The incident began when a mother in India brought her 14-year-old daughter to police to file a report after the girl was raped.
The girl told police that she was raped by a businessman when she visited New Delhi. Police opened a case against the businessman.
He was arrested and charged with raping a minor.
The girl became pregnant and her family believed that it was as a result of the rape.
The teen gave birth to a baby girl in October but the child died a few days later.
Recently, the family of the victim told prosecutors that they want to drop the case against the businessman.
Authorities said that in many rape cases, suspects pressure the family of the victims to drop the charges against them.
In many cases, the suspects give money to the family to get the charges dropped.
As a result of the family’s demands to drop the charges, the judge ordered the remains of the baby be exhumed so that DNA tests can be done.
If the businessman is the father then prosecutors do not need the testimony of the victim in order to get a conviction and for justice be served.
