A daughter decided to skip her mother’s funeral in order to steal valuables from the deceased woman’s home, according to police in Massachusetts.
Warren police said that they have arrested 30-year-old Alyce Davenport and 27-year-old Diron Conyers after stealing a safe from the home of Audra Johnson.
Davenport and Conyers were both charged with breaking and entering, larceny, and malicious destruction of property.
Both suspects have been booked into jail and bail was set at $90,000 each.
According to the police investigation, Johnson recently kicked out her daughter, Davenport, from her home after being suspected of stealing and using drugs.
Johnson died this week.
While Johnson’s family members were attending the funeral, Davenport decided to break into her mother’s home and steal her valuables.
She and Conyers stole a safe that contained legal documents and valuables worth around $90,000.
When the family members came home from the funeral, they realized that they were robbed and called the police.
They immediately suspected Davenport because she skipped the funeral.
Police executed a search warrant at a hotel in Sturbridge, where they recovered the stolen property.
