Police in California said that they are concerned over the safety of Uber customers after an illegal immigrant who was previously deported from the country was allowed to work for their company.

The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s office said that 39-year-old Alfonso Alarcon-Nunez from Mexico is accused of sexually assaulting college students who were between 19 and 22-years-old.

Authorities believe that Alarcon-Nunez targeted and sexually assaulted the college students while they were intoxicated.

Authorities said that according to the evidence collected, there are more victims. They are asking women to come forward if they were sexually abused while taking an Uber.

Alarcon-Nunez picked up the women while working for Uber but he failed to record the calls and sexually assaulted them.

The suspect was arrested and he is facing charges of rape of an intoxicated victim, burglary, assault with the intent to commit a sex offense, forcible rape, and grand theft.

The DA’s Office said that Alarcon-Nunez was deported from New Mexico back in 2005. He later returned and was hired by Uber without a background check, police said.
